Luděk Niedermayer was born on March 13, 1966 in Brno. After graduating from Masaryk University in Brno (formerly UJEP), where he studied Operational Research and System Theory and then worked briefly in the field of structure theory research, he joined the central bank in 1991. Five years later, at the age of 29, he became the youngest member of the Bank Board of the Czech National Bank. In May 2014 he was elected TOP 09 to the European Parliament.
